Brazilian Chorinho- study exercise- all Instruments
Choro, also popularly called chorinho, is an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre which originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro. Despite its name, the music often has a fast and happy rhythm. It is characterized by virtuosity, improvisation and subtle modulations, and is full of syncopation and counterpoint.
I wrote this chorinho a while back when I first became fascinated by Brazilian music as a study to challenge myself. I am still working on it!
This study features Approach notes, Odd group numbers, Multiple key signatures and a bebop bridge
The download includes the sheet music in Concert and for Bb instruments.
Also included is an Mp3 of the guitar backing
Hope you enjoy!
- Chorinho 9
I haven't had time to study as yet.
Chorinho 9 is a ton of fun to play and a sly way to work on enclosures, neighbour and approach tones. A quick listen to Instrumental SESC Brasil really helped suggest the tempo and tone. A good workout for high notes on clarinet, too. Highly recommend.
This material looks extremely useful. Thanks for putting it together!
Fun to listen to, fun to read. The speed of the recording is really fast, maybe too fast for less advanced players, but something to aspire to! Yes, will definitely buy again from this composer/teacher.
